For 30 years I wrote books and worked as a photojournalist for newspapers and magazines all over the world.
I photographed politicians, sports-people, guerrillas, rioters, army generals, entertainers, business personalities and ordinary people going about their daily lives. My work appeared in publications in more than 55 countries including Sunday Times, Sunday Star, Fairlady, International Defence Review, Soldier of Fortune, Penthouse, Readers Digest and many more. I also supplied material to a number of international news agencies including United Press International, Camera Press and Planet Syndication in London.
But I became acutely aware of how rapidly the world changes and how personal and family history is simply fading into dim memories or disappearing completely.
It was this philosophy that inspired me to change focus, move away from the formal media machine and concentrate on documenting weddings and family histories, working with couples and families throughout South Africa to produce images that capture personal, magical moments.
I know how to work under pressure and still always produce the story.
